CAPAS Goals & Student Learning Outcomes
CAPAS Goals are to:
- Create an atmosphere where students can explore Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) history and current issues.
- Build a space where APIDA students feel safe to explore their racial and ethnic identity.
- Build an APIDA community where students have access to resources and utilize them.
To reach our goals, CAPAS student staff will be able to:
- Create social, cultural, and educational programs that support the APIDA community.
- 75% of CAPAS student staff will participate in at least two CAPAS student centered programs per semester.
- Identify and utilize the resources available in the Asian American Resource Library.
- Identify APIDA resources within the Claremont Colleges, such as the Intercollegiate Department of Asian American Studies (IDAAS) and Asian American Advisory Board (Adboard).
- Learn outreach skills to disseminate information to the greater APIDA community that encourages the use of the resources available in the Asian American Resource Library.
- Develop awareness of issues specific to the APIDA community within the greater Pitzer community.
- Identify leadership opportunities in the APIDA community on and off campus and share this information with fellow peers.
- Learn inclusive facilitation skills and be able to identify ways to create a safe and inclusive space/environment for the APIDA community, and implement identified strategies in the Pitzer community.
- 75% of student staff will be satisfied with CAPAS programming.
Through the use of the Center and by participation in CAPAS programs, students will:
- Develop a sense of APIDA identity.
- Become involved or become a leader within the APIDA community.
- Become aware of issues surrounding the APIDA community.
- Utilize CAPAS for collaboration and outreach to Pitzer and the greater Claremont College community.
